Newest street names for Orange

Orange Council

Under state regulations (Section 162 of the Roads Act 1993) Orange City Council is required to inform the community about new street names by placing an item on the council website.

Joining the new Shiralee subdivision in the cities South off Lysterfield Road, the following road names are proposed:

  1. Regina Street
  2. Chelan Street
  3. Ribbon Gum Street
  4. Meadow Way
  5. Kordia Street
  6. Fuji Street

Kordia, Regina and Chelan are all named after varieties of cherries, for which the Orange area is known for growing. Ribbon Gum is named after the native Australia tree. Meadow Way – named after the existing lay of the land and the ‘Meadow’ butterfly commonly found is Orange. Fuji is a variety of apple with fits with the existing theme of the streets in the area.

Also located in a new development in the west of Orange, running off Carwoola Drive, is Georgia Oak Avenue. The theme for street naming in the area of the new road, is trees. George Oak is a deciduous tree, also known for the orange colour of its Autumn foliage.
