Next Council meeting to be held on Wednesday May 6

The Greater Bendigo City Council will hold its next Council meeting on Wednesday May 6.

Council will meet electronically after State Parliament last week passed the COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) Bill, which allows for Council meetings to temporarily occur in this way during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A link allowing residents to follow the meeting will be available on the City of Greater Bendigo website at www.bendigo.vic.gov.au/councilmeeting or they can continue to tune into the Phoenix FM 106.7 broadcast.

Mayor Cr Margaret O’Rourke said she was looking forward to using the technology to meet.

“It will be a different way of meeting but the good news is that we can meet and continue to fulfil our decision making role during this time while protecting the safety of residents, Councillors and staff,” Cr O’Rourke said.

“This meeting is an opportunity to consider matters that would have gone to our April Council meeting had we not had to cancel. The May 20 meeting will also proceed and then we will fall back into our usual meeting cycle after that.”

Public question time will be limited to written questions received no later than 5pm on Tuesday May 5, 2020. Public questions will be read out and answered by the Mayor.
