The City of Playford has taken home two National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) awards, cementing its place as a leader in growth partnerships and development coordination.
Council was the joint recipient of the Partnerships – Building Connections award for its contribution influencing the design and delivery of the Riverbanks College B-12 in Angle Vale. The City of Playford partnered with the State Government and TESA Education to design and develop shared-use sport and recreation facilities at the new school.
City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said this partnership resulted in state-of-the-art community facilities being fast-tracked to meet the future demand of a growing community.
“Partnering with the State Government and TESA Education to create these facilities is a positive outcome for our community, maximising usage of the space and leveraging Local and State Government investments,” Mayor Docherty said. “The shared-use facilities include playing fields and a two-court indoor gymnasium for the whole of community to use, enhancing liveability and community connection.”

City of Playford’s Growth and Infrastructure Coordinator, Andrew Smith, was also successful in receiving the Leadership in Growth Areas award.
Mr Smith’s proactive approach in the planning and coordination of Playford Growth Areas, working alongside developers, State Government and the community demonstrates the approach and attitude taken by the City of Playford to create great neighbourhoods.
“We continue to work across multiple developments in our growth areas to future proof connectivity and secure key infrastructure for the benefit of our community,” Mr Smith said.
City of Playford is one of the fastest growing communities in South Australia, anticipating a total of 15,000 new homes by 2036. Mayor Docherty said leading through a pro-active approach Council strives to achieve positive outcomes for the community.
“It is critical that we have the right services in place to cater for our rapidly growing community,” Mayor Docherty said.
