Grassroots community initiatives are set to get a boost with $115,000 in Council grants.

Applications are now open for the Nillumbik Community Fund (NCF) 2022/23.

The fund provides grants of up to $5000 from a total pool of $115,000 to support a range of initiatives that will strengthen, enhance and benefit Nillumbik communities.

Community groups, organisations, clubs, and artists who live, work, study, volunteer or play in Nillumbik are invited to apply for funding to support projects, activities and events that will take place between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023.

Nillumbik Mayor Frances Eyre said the fund supported not-for-profit community groups, clubs, artists and organisations to provide a range of projects, programs and events that will benefit the Nillumbik community.

“We want to support and encourage those in the Nillumbik community who are well-placed to develop and deliver local activities, events, projects and programs,” Cr Eyre said.

“Last year, the fund supported an exciting range of projects such as the launch of the Carers Collective, a newly formed peer support network for carers in Nillumbik, the Hurstbridge Jazz Club Pilot Series and the Skate Park Activation project in partnership with the Victorian Skateboard Association.”

Every application is considered on its own merits, but the program’s aim is to fund the activities that will have the broadest positive impact in Nillumbik.

Grants can be used to support the delivery of community led initiatives including but not limited to:

  • Community or youth programs
  • Indigenous cultural activities
  • Artist led community arts initiatives
  • Events that target local community engagement
  • Placemaking and other creative initiatives that aim to activate a ‘place’ in Nillumbik
  • Community safety or environmental initiatives
  • Initiatives that enhance and celebrate diversity, access and inclusion.
