Nominations now open for Australia Day Awards

Nominations for Murray River Council’s 2024 Australia Day Awards are now open.

Residents and community members are encouraged to nominate individuals or groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the local community.

“Australia Day provides a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge those individuals who volunteer so much of their time to ensure community services, initiatives and other important activities continue to prosper across our council area,” said Murray River Council acting mayor, Cr Frank Crawley.

“So let’s come together as a community and celebrate some of our unsung heroes through the awards process.”

Nominations are currently being accepted in the following award categories:

  1. Citizen of the Year
  2. Young Citizen of the Year
  3. Sportsperson of the Year
  4. Young Sportsperson of the Year
  5. Community Event of the Year
  6. Community Group of the Year
  7. Arts/Cultural Award (person or group)

Nominations can be completed via Council’s Your Say platform: www.yoursay.murrayriver.nsw.gov.au

Nominations close 12 November 2023.

“From volunteers to innovators, our area is full of remarkable people. Help us honour them by nominating in the Australia Day awards,” Cr Crawley said.

The Awards will be presented on Australia Day, 26 January 2024.
