Nominations open for Clarence Valley Citizens of Year Awards

Do you know someone whose contributions have made the Clarence Valley a better place to live?

Clarence Valley Council is calling on locals to shine a light on our unsung heroes and nominate them for the 2023 Clarence Valley Citizens of the Year Awards.

Nominations are open in the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Group Achievement Award
  • Local Hero

Plans have been set for the 2023 Clarence Valley Citizens of the Year Awards, with the annual event to be held in Grafton at 10am on Wednesday, 25 January 2023.

Two significant changes for 2023 were confirmed at the monthly Council meeting in August:

  • Renamed from Clarence Valley Australia Day Awards to Clarence Valley Citizens of the Year Awards
  • Moved from Australia Day (26 January) to 25 January in line with the National Australian of the Year Awards.

The event will be combined with an Australian Citizenship Ceremony.

Cr Steve Pickering was elected unopposed as the Councillor Advocate to be involved in the order of service, on the selection panel, and participate in advertising materials to encourage people to nominate. Cr Jeff Smith was the advocate in 2022.
