Northern Territory Police Force Launches Operation Ludlow in Response to Increased Activity

Northern Territory Police Force has had an exceptionally busy 48 hours, responding to a series of serious incidents, including large disturbances, aggravated robberies, home invasions, and a deliberate attempt to ram a police vehicle on Tuesday night.

In response to the heightened activity in Alice Springs, Police Commissioner Michael Murphy has announced that Operation Ludlow, a police-led operation initially scheduled to commence next month, will be brought forward. The operation will now begin today and will aim to prevent further escalation and ensure public safety. Additional officers will be deployed to Alice Springs to enhance our operational presence and strengthen community safety.

“We are committed to protecting and serving the people of the Northern Territory. Our officers remain vigilant and responsive, ensuring offenders are held accountable and victims receive the support they need,” said Commissioner Murphy.

“We understand the concerns of the community and want to reassure everyone that we are here to protect them. The early launch of Operation Ludlow is a direct response to the current challenges we are facing in Alice Springs, and we are fully committed to maintaining safety and stability across the Territory.”

The Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre has also faced high demand, with over 330,000 calls annually. The public is urged to use the 000 emergency line responsibly and reserve it for urgent situations. For non-urgent matters, please use the 131 444 assistance line or the online reporting portal.

We greatly appreciate the ongoing support and cooperation from the community. Together, we can ensure a safer Territory for everyone. Rest assured, the Northern Territory Police Force is working around the clock to keep you safe.
