When your backyard is bigger than the UK, there’s a lot to explore

NSW Caravan and camping industry launches new consumer campaign

We might not be able to travel to far flung corners of the earth right now but a sense of adventure and escape is available right here with a smorgasbord of exciting holiday destinations across NSW ready and waiting for visitors looking for their ideal getaway.

From the beach to the bush, there are amazing caravan and camping spots and beautifully inviting cabins waiting to help you explore the best of regional NSW, and now is the time to book for a weekend away, a mid-week break, the October school holidays or summer 2020.

“There are a raft of experiences waiting to be had across NSW and our holiday parks are fantastic, affordable, accessible and safe places to spend a few nights or a few weeks,” says Caravan & Camping Industry Association NSW (CCIA) CEO Lyndel Gray.

“Caravan and camping holidays have always been a strong favourite for people looking to holiday in their home state and overwhelmingly these holidays have been in regional areas of NSW.

“NSW is four times the size of the UK and has plenty to explore, so don’t miss out on that holiday in 2020, as now is the perfect time to take a closer look.”

Ms Gray said the desire for travel by NSW residents hasn’t abated with people keen to get out and support local tourism communities. Despite the terrible impact of January’s bushfires, regional floods and COVID, caravan and camping holidays showed significant growth with a 9.2% increase on trips in the year to March 2020.

“We were fast off the blocks when the travel restrictions were lifted in early June, and with our social media campaign helping to spur on visitors to NSW holiday parks, we saw occupancy levels higher than the same month last year, proving just how much people love to caravan and camp.”

CCIA has now partnered with the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW on the “Love NSW Caravan & Camping” campaign, which will run for 12 weeks across TV, digital and social networks, linking back to a fully searchable and bookable website: https://www.caravancampingnsw.com/love/

NSW Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said Love NSW Caravan & Camping will remind travellers about the simple pleasures of the great outdoors and the joy of being on the open road.

“If you’re thinking about a caravan or camping holiday in NSW, my advice is book now because there has been a surge in interest and many sites from the coast to the country are getting snapped up months in advance,” Minister Ayres said.

“The most viewed pages on VisitNSW.com in recent months have been drives and road trips, and caravan and camping – so we know this is what holidaymakers are looking for and we expect regional communities will see an influx of visitors embracing that feeling of freedom in the coming months.”

All travellers are reminded to follow the latest health advice on NSW.gov.au, which includes staying home or staying in if unwell.

Ms Gray said the industry was looking forward to welcoming back visitors from across the state, along with new visitors to the caravan and camping experience.

“In another promising sign for the industry, we are seeing more people looking to buy their own recreational vehicle as they look to take more holidays at home in the future,” Ms Gray said.

The new https://www.caravancampingnsw.com/love/ website also links to RV retailers and rental businesses, repairers and everything you need to know or go caravan or camping.
