The dedication and commitment of allied health clinicians across the state will be celebrated at tonight’s inaugural Excellence in Allied Health Awards.
NSW Health Secretary Susan Pearce welcomed the opportunity to celebrate the state’s allied health workers, who have continued to deliver outstanding care during the significant challenges presented by COVID-19.
“We owe a great deal of thanks to all our allied health professionals who are dedicated to providing high-quality care to their patients every day across NSW’s many public hospitals and health facilities,” Ms Pearce said.
“I want to extend my congratulations to each and every one of the finalists. Whether it’s physiotherapy, social work, speech or occupational therapy, their work in supporting patients recover from illness and injury is nothing short of exceptional.”
NSW Health Chief Allied Health Officer Andrew Davison said the awards are an opportunity to showcase the critical contribution allied health professionals make in delivering patient-centred care.
“This is the first time we’ve held these awards and we look forward to celebrating the vital role our allied health professionals play in the health system,” Mr Davison said.
The six award categories are:
- Allied Health Professional of the Year
- Aboriginal Allied Health Professional of the Year
- Early Career Allied Health Professional of the Year
- Allied Health Leader of the Year
- Allied Health Researcher / Educator of the Year
- Allied Health Assistant / Support Person of the Year
