Police are appealing for public assistance following the armed robbery of a bottle shop in Sydney’s north-west last night.
Just before 7.20pm (Friday 3 May 2019), emergency services were called to a bottle shop on Fowler Road, Guildford, after reports of an armed robbery.
Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command arrived and located one of the store’s attendants – a 49-year-old man – with facial lacerations.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital, and has since been released and taken to Granville Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.
Police have been told three men entered the bottle shop – two armed with hammers – and threatened a 28-year-old male attendant behind the counter.
The 49-year-old male attendant came out of a store room and threw a carton containing bottles at one of the men.
A struggle ensued between the older attendant and two of the men, during which time he was struck in the head with a wine bottle, causing lacerations.
The three men left the store running north on Fowler Road, with two nearby witnesses pursuing them on foot to the intersection of Frank and Bowden Street, where the trio entered a vehicle and drove away in a northerly direction on Bowden Street.
Police are now appealing for public assistance to locate the three men.
The first is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged in his 20s, with an average build and long black hair. He was last sent wearing a black t-shirt over his head, black pants, black shoes, and a black jacket with ‘HENLEY’ written on the front chest and lower back.
Another is described as being aged in his 20s, with an average build, wearing black pants, black jacket and a black thermal-style balaclava.
The third man is described as having a large build, last seen wearing a black, red and white jacket, black pants and white shoes.
Investigators are also appealing to locate a white Toyota Tarago, possible 2004-model, with the first registration letter as ‘A’.
