NSW police arrest four over shooting in Revesby backyard

Four men have been arrested following a shooting in a backyard in Sydney’s south-west.

About 12.30am on Monday 25 November 2019, police will allege in court that a group of men, armed with rifles and a shotgun, jumped the back fence at a home in Marco Avenue, Revesby.

It will be alleged in court that the men threatened one of the occupants, a 35-year-old man, and three other men – aged 21, 22 and 32.

The 35-year-old man ran into the home and picked up a rifle, before allegedly firing several shots at the armed men, who fled the backyard.

No one was injured, including a horse that was in a stable at the rear of the property.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended a short time later and established a crime scene.

Detectives formed Strike Force Evaline to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators, with the assistance of specialist tactical officers, arrested a 35-year-old man at another property in Revesby about 7.15am yesterday (Wednesday 15 January 2020).

Shortly after, a search warrant was executed at the home where investigators located a firearm conversion kit and ammunition. These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.

The 35-year-old man was taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with shoot at with intent to murder, fire firearm in or near public place, possess unauthorised firearm, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and hinder discovery evidence – serious indictable offence.

He was refused bail and appeared at Bankstown Local Court yesterday, where he was refused bail to appear before the same court on Wednesday 11 March 2020.

Following further inquiries, detectives arrested two men, aged 22 and 21, at homes in Bankstown and Panania just after 7am today (Thursday 16 January 2020).

A short time later, a 32-year-old man was arrested at a business in Balmain.

They were all taken to Bankstown Police Station, where they are assisting strike force investigators with their inquiries.

Investigations under Strike Force Evaline continue.
