NSW police arrest man after stand-off at Grafton

A man has been arrested following a police operation in the state’s north yesterday.

Just after 9am (Sunday 20 September 2020), officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District were called to a home on Turf Street, Gibson, after concerns were raised for the welfare of an occupant.

When police arrived, a man was armed with a knife and made verbal threats towards officers.

A perimeter was established, with two women and a boy evacuated from the home.

Specialist resources attended and just before 12pm, the 29-year-old man was arrested and taken to Grafton Police Station, before being conveyed to Coffs Harbour Health Campus Hospital for assessment.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
