Two men have been arrested for separate offences on the rail network, including assaulting police, resisting arrest and possession of a prohibited weapon today.
About 8.15am (Friday 28 February 2020), officers attached to the Police Transport Command stopped a man who was allegedly unable to produce a valid travel payment at Gosford Railway Station.
Upon searching the 23-year-old man, police allegedly located a credit card that didn’t belong to him, drug paraphernalia and a conductive electrical weapon.
He was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, goods in custody suspected of being stolen (not motor vehicle) and was issued an infringement for travel without valid ticket. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on Thursday 12 March 2020.
In a separate incident, about 10.15am (Friday 28 February 2020), police were called to Gosford Railway Station after reports of an intoxicated man yelling and swearing at patrons.
Upon arrival, police issued a move on direction to the 33-year-old man which was initially complied with.
A short time later, police will allege the man lunged at a female senior constable and pushed her against a wall.
A male inspector then restrained the man and arrested him.
The 33-year-old continued to resist arrest and assault both officers.
He was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with:
· Use offensive language on public passenger vehicle/train
· Assault officer in execution of duty (x3)
· Resist officer in execution of duty
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on Thursday 12 March 2020.
