A driver has been charged after a pedestrian was critically injured in a crash in Sydney’s CBD yesterday.
Just before 5pm (Monday 13 July 2020), emergency services were called to Macquarie Street, near St James Road, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a Ford Ranger utility.
Police will allege the utility reversed and hit the pedestrian, a 79-year-old man.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and arrested the driver, a 48-year-old man.
He was taken to hospital for mandatory testing before being taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm- drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), drive across dividing lines to do U-turn, and not reverse vehicle safely.
The Baulkham Hills man was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 26 August 2020.
