NSW police charge four after identification documents and drugs seized in Sydney CBD

Four men have been charged after multiple personal identification documents and illicit drugs were seized during two search warrants in Sydney’s CBD yesterday.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command’s Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs throughout the Sydney CBD area earlier this month.

Following extensive inquiries, two search warrants were executed on units at a hotel on Castlereagh Street, Sydney, about 7.40am yesterday (Thursday 28 July 2022).

During the search warrant, more than 65 items were seized from the premises, including illicit drugs, identification documents and credit cards believed to have been stolen, cash, a ‘Rolex’ watch, mobile phones and a card reader. All items will undergo forensic examination.

Two men, aged 39, were arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station. One of the men was charged with goods in custody and was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 17 August 2022. The other man was charged with six counts of possess prohibited drug and refused bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court today (Friday 29 July 2022).

A 33-year-old man – wanted on an outstanding warrant for break and enter offences – was also arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station, where the warrant was executed. He was refused bail and will appear at the same court today (Friday 29 July 2022).

A fourth man, aged 34, was taken to Surry Hills Police Station. He was later released pending further investigation.
