NSW police charge man after armed robbery

A man will appear in court today charged with alleged robbery and firearm offences over the weekend on Sydney’s North Shore.

Around 5.30pm on Saturday 25 January 2020, a man was cleaning his boat at the front of his home on Deepwater Road, Castle Cove, when he was approached by another man who demanded he hand over his gold chain necklace and mobile phone.

The man refused, before the other man allegedly pulled out a handgun and threatened him.

The man fled the scene soon after, without any items.

Officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, at 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 29 January 2020), a 25-year-old man was arrested outside a home on Boundary Street, Castle Cove.

Police executed a search warrant at the home and allegedly located and seized a replica glock, a balaclava and other items of clothing.

The 25-year-old was taken to Chatswood Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, possess unauthorised pistol, not keep firearm safely-pistol, possess means of disguising face with intent commit indictable offence and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court today (Thursday 30 January 2020).
