NSW police charge man after attack on woman at Albury

A man has been charged with multiple offences following an investigation into the assault of a woman in the state’s south this week.

About 11.30pm on Wednesday (26 February 2020), a man allegedly forced entry into a motel room on David Street, Albury and assaulted a woman with a large wooden stick.

Following the alleged attack, the man fled, and emergency services were called to the location.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman before she was taken to Albury Base Hospital for further treatment to a facial injury.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police attended a house at Byron Street, Glenroy where they arrested a 47-year-old man who was taken to Albury Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit indictable offence, wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm, contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man appeared before Albury Local Court today (Saturday 28 February 2020) and was refused bail to appear at the same court on Monday 2 March 2020.
