A man has been charged after an assault with a corkscrew on the Northern Beaches.
About 8.05pm yesterday (Friday 17 May 2019) several volunteers were erecting political material outside a school on Lewis Street, Balgowlah Heights.
A man attended and started yelling verbal abuse at the volunteers.
He allegedly threatened an 18-year-old man before he thrust a corkscrew at the stomach of a 31-year-old man, causing a minor injury. He then started ripping down the banners that had been erected, before fleeing the scene.
Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.
Ambulance Paramedics attended and treated the injured man on scene. He did not require hospitalisation.
About 10.30pm, a 62-year-old man was arrested at a home in Balgowlah Heights.
He was taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with two counts of common assault.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday 5 June 2019.
