NSW police charge man after discharging firearm

A man will appear at court today charged with multiple offences after allegedly discharging a firearm in the state’s Central West.

About 12.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 2 September 2020), detectives attached to Central West Police District attended a home on The Welcome Road, Parkes, after reports shots were fired on the property.

Officers executed a crime scene warrant at the property where they located and seized a bolt action rifle, ammunition and property alleged to be linked to recent break and enters in the area.

The 25-year-old man was arrested and taken to Parkes Police Station.

He was charged with use unregistered firearm-not prohibited firearm/pistol, firearm found at premises-subject to prohibition order, two counts of acquire firearm – subject to prohibition order, two counts of fire firearm in or near public place, break and enter house and steal value and enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence.

The man was refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court today (Thursday 3 September 2020).
