NSW police charge man after paramedic assaulted at Bankstown

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command have charged a man after he allegedly assaulted a NSW Ambulance paramedic at Bankstown yesterday.

About 9.45pm last night (Wednesday 12 June 2019), police attended a home on Carinya Road, Picnic Point following reports of a concern for welfare.

At the home police spoke with a 26-year-old man and as a result, that man was taken to Bankstown Hospital for an assessment.

While waiting at the hospital the man allegedly punched a female paramedic in the face.

The woman suffered bruising to her eye and was treated.

The man was assessed at hospital then released into the custody of police.

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with obstruct or hinder ambulance officer by act of violence and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will re-appear in Bankstown Local Court on Monday 17 June 2019.
