A man will face court next month after allegedly leading police on a pursuit in Sydney’s west overnight.
About 11.30pm (Monday 9 November 2020), police attached to Auburn Police Area Command were on patrol when they observed a white Mitsubishi Lancer allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the road on Vaughan Street, Auburn.
Police activated lights and sirens, however, the car failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.
A short time later, the male driver stopped the vehicle at a home on Auburn Road, Auburn, and as officers tried to arrest him, he allegedly became aggressive.
While attempting to restrain the man, one of the officers – a male acting inspector – sustained soft tissue injuries.
The 19-year-old man was arrested and was taken to Burwood Police Station, where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly and resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.
The Auburn man was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday 3 December 2020.
