NSW police charge man after pursuit in stolen vehicle at Eden

Two men have been arrested following a pursuit in an allegedly stolen vehicle on the state’s far south coast.

About 3.10am today (Wednesday 13 November) a vehicle and amount of property was allegedly stolen from a government premises in Eden.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District commenced an investigation and located the driver and vehicle in bushland in Greigs Flat.

A pursuit was engaged and terminated shortly after for safety reasons.

The vehicle was located at a property on Grenenger Road, Greigs Flat a short time later.

Officers conducted a search of the property, locating and seizing a large amount of property believed to be stolen, as well as an unregistered firearm, drugs and cash.

The driver of the vehicle, a 38-year-old man, was seen in the vicinity of the property during the search. Officers engaged in a foot pursuit and arrested the man, before taking him to Bega Police Station.

The man was later charged with break and enter, illegal use of motor vehicle and various property offences.

He was refused bail and is due to face Batemans Bay Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 14 November 2019).

A second man, who was present at the time of the search, was arrested and is expected to be charged with firearm offences.

Police inquiries are continuing.
