NSW police charge man after stabbing

A man will appear in court today after allegedly stabbing another man in Mt Druitt yesterday.

About 10.15am (Friday 12 November 2021), emergency services were called to a shopping centre on Carlisle Avenue, following reports of a stabbing.

Police were told a man exited a store without paying for items when a member of the public intervened and attempted to stop him.

The 26-year-old man allegedly stabbed the member of the public in the back, before attempting to enter a nearby vehicle; however, was unsuccessful.

He fled the scene on foot and was arrested nearby by officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command.

The injured man – aged 28 – was treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

The younger man was taken to Blacktown Hospital before being taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with five offences including:

– larceny,

– use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention,

– common assault,

– wound person with intent to resist/prevent arrest, and,

– demand property with menaces with intent to steal.

He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 13 November 2021).
