Police have seized three firearms, drugs, and equipment used to manufacture drugs, during the execution of two search warrants in Sydney’s north west.
Strike Force Muir was established by officers from the North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad – Penrith, to investigate the manufacture of prohibited drugs.
Investigations led officers to a unit on Maple Tree Road, Westmead, where they executed a search warrant on Monday 1 September 2020.
Officers located and seized an amount of methamphetamine (Ice), $13,500 in cash, and equipment and chemicals used in manufacture drugs.
As inquiries continued, officers then executed a second warrant at a home in Karne Street North in Riverwood, yesterday (Thursday 3 September 2020).
Officers entered the home shortly after 10am where they arrested a 33-year-old man. During a search of the home police allegedly found three handguns and more equipment and chemicals used in the manufacturing of prohibited drugs.
He was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with:
- manufacture prohibited drugs>indicatable quantity (not cannabis)
- possess unauthorised prohibited firearm (x3)
- Possess unregistered firearm-pistol (x3)
- Not prevent theft/loss of firearm
- Possess prohibited drug
He was refused bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court today (Friday 4 September 2020).
