NSW police charge man after woman injured in fail-to-stop crash

A man will appear in court today charged over an alleged fail-to-stop crash in Sydney’s north-west yesterday.

About 12.40am (Sunday 22 November 2020), emergency services were called to Mons Avenue at West Ryde, following reports an injured woman had been located on the road.

The woman was allegedly struck by a vehicle that then left the scene.

The 20-year-old woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition with head injuries and a fractured pelvis.

Officers from Ryde Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Following inquiries, crash investigators arrested a 23-year-old Kellyville Ridge man at Ryde Police Station about 8.00pm yesterday.

The man was charged with failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear before Burwood Local Court today (Monday 23 November 2020).
