A man has faced court today charged after an investigation into fraudulent applications to an insurance company totalling more than $142,000.
In April 2021, officers from the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad executed a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) at a house in Richardson Street, Merrylands.
During the search, officers seized more than $25,000 cash, which was located in the bedroom of a 52-year-old man. A crime scene was established and examined; however, no charges were laid at the time.
Raptor Squad detectives commenced an investigation into the source of the cash and other documents.
Following extensive inquiries, the man was arrested at Merrylands about 5.40am on Wednesday 27 October 2021.
During a subsequent search of the house, officers seized $15,000 cash, six vials of testosterone, various documents and other items.
The man was taken to Parramatta Police Station, where he was charged with 25 counts publish false misleading material to obtain advantage, three counts knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, and possess prohibited drug.
Police will allege the man fraudulently received payments from an insurance company totalling $142,430.45 dating back to April 2018.
The Merrylands man appeared in Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 24 November 2021), where he was granted conditional bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 20 January 2022.
