NSW police charge man over 2015 murder at Bathurst

A man has been charged with murder following investigations into the death of a man at Bathurst in 2015.

About 10am on Sunday 20 September 2015, a homeless man, aged 68, was found deceased under the Denison Bridge at Bathurst.

The man was formally identified as Reginald Mullaly, who had been living under the southern end of the bridge in a crude shelter.

The man had sustained head injuries, with the post-mortem examination revealing Mr Mullaly had also been stabbed.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District established Strike Force Yenna to investigate Mr Mullaly’s murder.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 38-year-old man at a home in George Street, Bathurst about 9.15am today (Monday 16 November 2020).

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with murder.

The matter was heard at Bathurst Local Court today and the man has been formally refused bail to appear at the same court tomorrow (Tuesday 17 November 2020).
