NSW police charge man over armed robbery at Wagga Wagga 28 March

A man will face court today charged over the alleged armed robbery of a service station in the state’s Riverina last week.

Just after 2.40am on Friday 25 March 2022, a man – with his face concealed – entered a service station on Edwards Street, Wagga Wagga, and allegedly exposed the handle of what’s believed to be a firearm to a female employee.

The man allegedly stole cash before fleeing on foot. The employee was not injured.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Following extensive inquiries, just after 1am Saturday 26 March 2022, a 23-year-old man was arrested at Wagga Wagga Police Station.

He was charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon – serious indictable offence, and custody of knife in public place.

A search warrant was then executed at a hotel on Fitzmaurice Street, Wagga Wagga, where items relating to the alleged offence were seized.

The Ashmont man was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Monday 28 March 2022).
