NSW police charge man over arson at renovation site of Wentworthville Police Station

A man has been charged over an alleged arson attack at a police station under renovation in Sydney’s west last year.

Officers from Parramatta Police Area Command commenced an investigation after a flammable device was allegedly thrown into the renovation site of Wentworthville Police Station just after 5.30am on Monday 21 October 2019.

The building was unoccupied at the time and the site suffered minor damage.

Following extensive inquiries and a public appeal, detectives arrested a 30-year-old man at a facility at Villawood yesterday (Thursday 28 May 2020).

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with damage property by fire.

The man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Thursday 6 August 2020.
