NSW police charge man over Croydon Park armed robbery

A man is due to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today charged following the alleged armed robbery of a convenience store in Croydon Park yesterday.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command were called to the business on George River Road about 1.25am yesterday (Friday 2 December 2022), after a man allegedly armed with a knife threatened an attendant and stole food items before leaving.

A crime scene was established and investigations began into this incident, and similar robberies of the same business and another close by on 20 and 24 November 2022. In an unrelated incident, police were called to a unit block on Georges River Road about 4.20pm after a cleaner was allegedly threatened by a resident and her vehicle damaged.

Police arrested a 45-year-old man and took him to Burwood Police Station while a search warrant was executed on his home unit.

There police located and seized clothing which – it will be alleged in court – matches that worn by the person responsible for two of the three armed robberies.

The man has now been charged with two counts of armed robbery, larceny, intimidation, malicious damage, and possess knife in a public place.

He’s been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail court today (Saturday 3 December 2022).
