NSW police charge man over dognapping in Sydney

Police have charged a man following investigations into the alleged theft of a dog from the front of a store in Sydney’s CBD last week

About 8.20pm Friday 7 May 2021, a female Pitbull Terrier named ‘Baxter’, aged four, was tied up by her owner outside a store at the intersection of George and Liverpool Streets, Sydney.

When he returned, the dog was missing and officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended a short time later and commenced an investigation.

Police have been told a man and woman were last seen heading south on George Street with the dog.

About 9.20pm (Monday 10 May 2021), a 38-year-old man attended Day Street Police Station with Baxter the dog.

The man was arrested and charged with steal dog (2nd conviction).

He was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court today (Tuesday 11 May 2021).

Baxter has been reunited with his owner.
