NSW police charge man over home invasion and police assault

A man will face court today charged over an alleged home invasion and assault on a police officer in Sydney’s western suburbs.

On Saturday 14 November 2020, detectives from Blacktown Police Area Command commenced an investigation following a home invasion on Bulah Way, Seven Hills.

Following inquiries, detectives attended a home on Kennedy Parade at Lalor Park yesterday (Wednesday 18 November 2020), to speak with a man as part of the investigation.

Upon arrival, the man refused to answer the door and allegedly used a washing machine to barricade himself inside.

As officers attempted to gain access, police will allege the man used a weapon to assault a constable, who suffered minor injuries to his knee and hand.

OC spray was deployed by officers as they arrested the 47-year-old man.

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station and charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent – knowing people there, resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

The Lalor Park man was refused bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court today (Thursday 19 November 2020).
