A man will reappear in court today charged over the alleged indecent assault of a young boy in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

In September last year, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a young boy had been indecently assaulted by a man known to him.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 38-year-old man at a unit at Bondi about 8.15am on Thursday 17 December 2020.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at the unit, where detectives seized electronic storage devices.

The man was taken to Waverley Police Station and charged with four counts of indecent assault person under 16 years of age.

Police will allege in court the man indecently assaulted a boy – then aged between nine and 12 – on several occasions between 2014 and 2016.

The man appeared at Waverley Local Court the same day, where he was granted strict conditional bail to reappear at the same court today (Thursday 28 January 2021).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
