NSW police charge man over possession of loaded semi-automatic firearm at Narrandera

A man has been charged over the alleged possession of a loaded firearm in the Riverina region.

Just after 1pm today (Monday 21 September 2020), officers from Murrumbidgee Police District were called to a home in Narrandera, following reports of a disturbance, when they observed a man allegedly holding a rifle in the backyard.

Police attempted to speak to the 26-year-old man, before he ran away.

Following a short foot pursuit, he was arrested, and police seized the firearm – a loaded .22 semi-automatic rifle – without incident.

The man was taken to Narrandera Police Station and charged with possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess unregistered firearm- prohibited firearm, and carry firearm manner likely injure person/property.

He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 22 September 2020).
