A man will appear in court today after being charged by the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad over the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl in Sydney.
Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation after receiving reports a 13-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by an unknown man earlier this week.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 52-year-old man outside a home at Rosebery about 5.20pm yesterday (Thursday 22 August 2019).
Shortly after, a crime scene warrant was executed inside a room in the home, where several items were seized for forensic examination.
The man was taken to Mascot Police Station and charged with two counts of aggravated sex assault – victim under the age of 16 years, and four counts of intentionally sexually touch child between the ages of 10 and 16.
Police will allege in court that the man met the girl at Manly on Monday (19 August 2019), before supplying her with a drink and travelling with her on public transport and taking her to a boarding house at Rosebery, where he sexually assaulted her.
It’s further alleged that he told a member of the public the girl was his daughter.
The man has been refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Friday 23 August 2019).
