NSW police charge man over sexual touching on train

A man has been charged over the alleged sexual touching of a woman on a train in Sydney’s south-west.

About 4.10pm on Thursday 8 August 2019, a 29-year-old woman was asleep on a train near Minto Railway Station, when she awoke to a man touching her thigh.

The man allegedly touched the woman further in a sexual manner, before she moved away from him.

The incident was later reported to police, and officers from Police Transport & Public Safety Command’s Strike Force Artemis commenced inquiries.

About 3.35pm yesterday (Tuesday 13 August 2019), a 22-year-old man was arrested at Glenfield Railway Station after being recognised by officers from Campbelltown Police Transport & Public Safety Command.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with sexually touch another person without consent and common assault.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Monday 9 September 2019.

Operation Artemis is an ongoing targeting sexual offences on the public transport network.
