NSW police charge man over stealing and malicious damage offences

A man will face court today charged over multiple property offences allegedly committed in southwest Sydney over a three-month period.

Following extensive inquiries, about 6am on Monday 27 June 2022, officers from the Proactive Crime Team Cumberland arrested a 50-year-old man during a vehicle stop on Bruce Street, Merrylands.

It will be alleged that in April this year the man entered a carpark in a unit complex on MacArthur Street, Parramatta, breaking into three vehicles and pouring liquid soap through the vehicle’s interiors. A GPS unit and a VHF radio were stolen from two of the vehicles.

In May, the man allegedly stole a dashcam from a parked car at a carpark on Waldron Road, Chester Hill, before pouring motor oil on both the exterior and interior of the vehicle.

About 2am on Monday 20 June 2022, it will be further alleged the man broke into a garage at a unit complex on Prospect Street, Rosehill, stealing a number of items.

Upon being arrested the man was taken to Granville Police Station.

He was charged with one count of break and enter house etc steal value

The Merrylands man was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court and has been adjourned to reappear at Parramatta Local Court today (Monday 11 July 2022).
