NSW police charge man over two break and enters at Broken Hill

A man has been charged following an investigation into two alleged break and enters in the state’s west.

Police will allege on Thursday 31 October 2019, a 68-year-old woman returned to her home in Broken Hill to find it ransacked and some property missing.

Officers from Barrier Police District were notified, attended and commenced an investigation.

Just before midnight on Monday 11 November 2019, police have been told the woman woke to a man standing in the doorway of her bedroom, demanding money and her mobile phone.

He fled the scene soon after with jewellery and police were notified. The woman was uninjured.

Following inquiries, police attended a house on Warren Street, Broken Hill, about 4pm yesterday (Monday 18 November 2019), and arrested a 24-year-old man.

He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station and charged with break enter and steal and aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.

The man was refused bail to appear before Broken Hill Local Court today (Tuesday 19 November 2019).
