NSW police charge man with 9.3kg of cannabis after vehicle stop at Moree

A man will face court today after a large quantity of drugs were located during a vehicle stop in the state’s Central West.

About 12.30pm yesterday (Friday 25 June 2021), officers from the New England Police District stopped a Toyota Landcruiser utility travelling north along the Newell Highway, Moree.

Officers searched the vehicle where 9.3kg of cannabis was located in a spare tyre strapped to the rear of the vehicle. The cannabis was divided into 20 clear bags.

The 39-year-old driver was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station.

A search warrant was later executed at a home on Burrington Road, Moree. During the search police located a flick knife.

The man was charged with possess prohibited weapon contrary to weapons prohibition order and supply cannabis greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity.

He has been bail refused to appear in Moree Local Court today (Saturday 26 June 2021).
