NSW police charge man with armed robbery at Albury 27 January

A man has been charged following an attempted armed robbery at a supermarket in Albury at the weekend.

Shortly after 8am on Sunday 24 January 2021, a man entered the supermarket inside a shopping complex on the corner of Swift and David streets, Albury, and requested cigarettes from the attendant.

As the attendant returned to the counter, police have been told the man produced an uncapped syringe and demanded cash, before fleeing on foot empty-handed.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and commenced inquiries.

Following inquiries and a public appeal for information, a 29-year-old man was arrested at Albury Police Station on Monday 25 January 2021, and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

He was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court today (Wednesday 27 January 2021).
