NSW police charge man with firearm offences at Broken Hill

A man will face court today charged with firearms offences in the state’s far west.

About 9pm yesterday (Monday 13 January 2020), a man was allegedly at a home in Ryan Street, Broken Hill, and in possession of a firearm.

It will be alleged in court that the man did not hold a firearms licence.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District attended the property and located a 30-year-old man.

During a search of the man, police located and seized a firearm and ammunition. It was seized to undergo forensic examination.

The 30-year-old man was arrested and taken to Broken Hill Police Station.

He was charged with possess ammunition without holding a licence, possess shortened firearm without authority, possess unauthorised firearm, not keep firearm safely-prohibited firearm, and domestic violence, traffic and breach of bail offences.

The man was refused bail to appear at Broken Hill Local Court today (Tuesday 14 January 2020).
