NSW police charge man with multiple driving offences after pursuit at Rosebery

A man will face court on multiple charges including high range drink driving following a police pursuit in Sydney’s south this evening.

About 6.40pm (Saturday 30 November 2019), a red Toyota Corolla was allegedly detected driving at excess speed on Botany Road, Rosebery by Traffic and Highway Patrol.

The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated by police.

Shortly after the car collided with another vehicle, containing two occupants on Mentmore Road, Rosebery. Both were uninjured.

The driver exited the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene. He was apprehended by police a short distance away where he was arrested.

The 24-year-old underwent a roadside breath test which returned a positive reading. A subsequent breath analysis returned a reading of 0.166.

He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with high-range PCA, police pursuit, exceed speed and dangerous driving.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 1 December 2019).
