NSW police charge man with murder

A man has been charged with murder after a woman’s body was located in North Parramatta on the weekend.

About 4.30pm on Sunday (30 January 2022), emergency services were called to a unit on Pennant Hills Road responding to reports of an alleged domestic violence-related incident.

Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command arrived to find the body of a 19-year-old woman inside the unit.

A crime scene was established, and specialist HAZMAT officers from Fire and Rescue NSW were called to assist at the location.

Strike Force Jenola has been formed to investigate the woman’s death, which is being treated as suspicious, and comprises detectives attached to Parramatta PAC, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Following inquiries and an appeal for information, about 12.30pm today (Monday 31 January 2022), a 20-year-old man attended Bankstown Police Station where he was arrested.

A truck was located shortly after in Greenacre and was seized for forensic examination.

The man has been charged with murder and refused bail. He will appear at Bankstown Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 1 February 2022).

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are continuing under Strike Force Jenola.
