NSW police charge man with robbery and trespass

A man has been charged with robbery and trespass offences following an incident in Bass Hill yesterday (Tuesday 2 July 2019).

Police will allege about 1.30pm (Tuesday 2 July 2019), a 28-year-old man attended a supermarket at a shopping centre in Bass Hill.

He was allegedly seen to conceal several food items including an avocado and frankfurt sausages down the front of his pants.

He was approached by a staff member to pay for the items when leaving the store.

The man allegedly refused and threatened the staff member before leaving the store in a vehicle.

Police from Bankstown Police Area Command were called to attend and commenced an investigation.

About 5.15pm (Tuesday 2 July 2019), officers attended a home in Kirrily Place, Bass Hill and arrested a 28-year-old man.

Food items, including the avocado and sausages, were located at the scene.

He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with trespass and robbery and was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 3 July 2019).

The staff member was not injured during the incident.
