NSW police charge man with sexual touching, stalking

A man has been charged after he allegedly inappropriately touched and stalked a woman on a Sydney train earlier this month.

During the morning of Monday (5 August 2019) police will allege a 26-year-old woman boarded a train at Loftus Railway Station and was inappropriately touched by a man.

Police will also allege the man touched the same woman inappropriately two months ago on the same train service.

Following those incidents, the woman changed train carriages to avoid the man.

During the morning of Monday 26 August 2019, the woman boarded a train at Loftus Railway Station, recognised the man and took a photo of him, before reporting the incidents to officers from Police Transport Command at Hurstville.

About 5.15am yesterday (Tuesday 27 August 2019), officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command boarded the train and met the victim, who pointed out the man who allegedly touched her inappropriately.

The 49-year-old man was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station. Officers from Cronulla Police Transport Command attended and took over the investigation.

The man was charged with sexually touch another person without consent and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm etc.

He was given strict bail conditions to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 10 October 2019.
