NSW police charge teen over armed robbery at Nowra

A teenager will appear in court charged with a string of alleged property offences following an armed robbery on the state’s South Coast.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District commenced an investigation following the alleged robbery of a bakery on Paradise Beach Road, Sanctuary Point, about 6.20am on Friday (25 March 2022).

Investigators were also notified of an alleged theft from a hotel on Kinghorne Street, Nowra, about 5.20am yesterday (Tuesday 29 March 2022), where a woman’s handbag was stolen.

Following inquiries, police arrested an 18-year-old man in the carpark of a shopping centre on East Street, Nowra, about 8.30am that day.

It will be alleged the man violently struggled with officers, kicking a female senior constable.

He was restrained and taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with more than 35 offences including robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, six counts of break and enter house and steal, 13 counts of larceny, five counts dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, two counts of shoplifting, resist officer in execution of duty, assault officer in execution of duty, possess prohibited drug, and breach of bail.

The teen has been refused bail to appear at Nowra Local Court today (Wednesday 30 March 2022).

The officer did not require treatment.
