NSW police charge two after weapons, drugs and stolen IDs seized at Miranda

A man will re-appear in court today charged after weapons, drugs and stolen personal identification was seized from a car in Sydney’s south.

About 5.10pm on Friday 31 January 2020, officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped a Volkswagen Transporter on Kiora Road, Miranda, after the driver was allegedly using a mobile phone while driving.

The driver, a 35-year-old woman, underwent a roadside drug test and allegedly returned a positive result.

Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command searched the vehicle and located methylamphetamine, prescription drugs, an electronic stun device, a replica pistol, personal identification believed to have been stolen, and $760 in cash.

These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.

The woman and her passenger, a 32-year-old man, were arrested at the scene and taken to Sutherland Police Station.

The man was charged with goods suspected stolen in/on premises (motor vehicle), two counts of goods in custody suspected of being stolen, two counts of possess identity information to commit indictable offence, supply prohibited drug, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and deal with property proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday 1 February 2020, where he was formally refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Tuesday 4 February 2020).

The woman was charged with possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, and possess unauthorised firearm.

She was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday 1 February 2020, where she was formally refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 5 February 2020).

Investigations are continuing.
