NSW police charge two over assault in Sydney CBD

Police have charged two men following a public appeal for information after an alleged assault in the Sydney CBD last month.

About 3.20am on Sunday 21 November 2021, two groups of men became involved in an argument outside a hotel on Kent Street, Sydney.

A 26-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by another man, before a second man joined in.

Another 26-year-old man attempted to intervene, before he was also assaulted.

The men left the scene and were last seen walking southbound along Kent Street towards Liverpool Street.

The two injured men sustained facial injuries and were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command attended, established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the incident.

Following extensive investigations, and a public appeal for information, two men – aged 21 and 28 – attended Surry Hills Police Station about 1.30pm today (Wednesday 22 December 2021).

Both men were charged with affray and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The men were both granted strict conditional bail and are due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 13 January 2022.
