NSW police charge two over property offences at Tamworth

Two people have been charged as officers from Oxley Police District establish Operation Western Mongoose, targeting property crime in the area.

About 10.15am today (Wednesday 20 April 2022), officers attached to Operation Western Mongoose were conducting patrols in the Tamworth CBD area, where they observed a man and a teenage boy, they knew to be wanted on outstanding warrants.

Police approached the pair – aged 15 and 19 – who attempted to flee on foot and placed them under arrest.

They were conveyed to Tamworth Police Station.

The teen was charged with two outstanding warrants for the following offences; receive etc property stolen outside NSW >$15000, five counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal

The man was charged with breach of bail. He was refused bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 21 April 2022).

Strikeforce Western Mongoose was established this week consisting of police from the Detectives, Proactive Crime and Crime Prevention Unit within the Oxley Police District, Western Region Enforcement Squad, Traffic and Highway Command, Youth Command and Dog Unit.
