NSW police charge woman after SUV hits pedestrian

A man remains in a critical condition in Westmead Hospital after being hit by a SUV at Harris Park yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Good Street about 3.05pm (Sunday 23 February 2020), and found a man suffering critical head injuries.

The man, believed to be aged in his 60s, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital where he has undergone surgery.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command have been told the man was walking on the footpath along Good Street when a Holden Captiva left the road and hit him, about 50m south of Bowden Street, under the eastbound lanes of the M4 Motorway.

A 51-year-old woman driving the SUV was arrested at the scene and underwent mandatory testing before being taken to Granville Police Station.

The woman, from Harris Park, has now been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

She has been granted bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 17 March 2020.
